Saw it, loved it. It totally won the Bechdel test.
Author Sherrilyn Kenyon, creator of the "Dark Hunter" series, has filed a lawsuit against Cassandra Clare, author of the "Shadowhunter" series.

REALLY REALLY REALLY.

The court document can be found here: United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee Nashville Division, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Plaintiff. Also: Exhibit 1, Exhibit 2, Exhibit 3, Exhibit 4, Exhibit 5, Civil cover sheet

"Dear Author" covers it here: Wednesday News: Kenyon v. Clare.

Courthouse News Service covers it here: The creator of the "Dark-Hunter" sci-fi and fantasy series claims in court that the author of "Shadowhunter" books copied elements of her story.

And, of course, there's the 2006 look at Claire's plagiarism at Bad Penny (courtesy of the Wayback Machine):
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Intro through Part IV
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Part V (post 1)
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Part V (cont'd) through part VIII
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Part IX through Part XI
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Part XII
The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle -- Part XIII through Epilogue

This needs popcorn.

ETA: Another good summary is on YA Interrobang: Sherrilyn Kenyon sues Cassandra Clare.

The court filing includes a long list of similarities in Exhibit 3 (Exhibit 3 .pdf here). I personally don't believe that the similarities listed amount to plagiarism; it's generic stuff like "Dies in battle while passing one last longing look at her family she loves and redeems herself." However, I am not a lawyer, so what do I know?

From today's Boston Globe:
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump received a key endorsement Tuesday from conservative heavyweight Sarah Palin, giving the billionaire businessman a potential boost with some voters less than two weeks before voting begins with the Iowa caucuses.

Just what universe have I wandered into?
I have the best sister ever. She has the day off today and I don't, but she got up early to clean the snow off my car, unasked.

I love my R.

My late parents had (land-line) telephones, cable TV, and a hi-fi. They didn't have computers, stereo equipment, VCRs, CDs, DVDs, cell phones, answering machines, etc. This means that they didn't have cables. Power cords, USB connectors, HDMI cables, component cables, coaxial cables, printer cords... the whole stringy mess. (There was a lone pair of coaxial cables for the cable TV. It was out of sight.) As for myself, after years of acquiring and upgrading home electronic equipment, I have enough leftover cables to build a Flying Spaghetti Monster. I know this because yesterday I went around the house, collecting spare cables from various drawers and throwing them into a Trader Joe's bag.

Why is the twenty-first century so full of cables, yet devoid of flying cars? How come the Jetsons weren't swimming in cables?

This day needs lots of rainbows and kittens, but is, sadly, entirely rainbow-and-kitten free. Nuts.

Holy moley, Sleeps With Coyotes is posting Steve/Bucky Avengers fanfic. I used to read her Phantom Menace and Highlander stories back when I was a wee fandom newbie.

1,001 Times the Media Acted Shocked That Trump Was Running a Real Campaign
Perhaps it is no longer news, three months in, that the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination is, in fact, running for president.

I've been seeing this viewpoint more often in the news media: Trump is running for President. For real.

This is actually happening? In the real world?

Reality, you are a strange, strange beast.
