The DC digital service, DC Universe, will not be picking up a second season of Swamp Thing, its drama series based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, according to sources. The series, which premiered on May 31, hailed from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Deadline Hollywood, reported May 10, 2019: Alvin Sargent Dies: ‘Ordinary People’ & ‘Julia’ Oscar Winner Who Also Penned Three ‘Spider-Man’ Films Was 92.
Alvin Sargent, who won Oscars for writing Ordinary People and Julia and was nominated for Paper Moon, has died of natural causes in Seattle. He was 92. Sargent also won WGA Awards for all three of those films and received the guild’s career honor, the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, in 1991.

Sargent penned more than two dozen feature screenplays from the 1960s into the 2010s, most recently The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Spider-Man 3 (2007) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). His feature credits also include What About Bob? (1991), Other People’s Money (1991) and Unfaithful (2002).

The Japanese manga artist and scholar known as Monkey Punch has died at age 81, according to Japanese press reports and confirmed by stateside friends and associates within the art and academic communities. The creator of the popular manga Lupin III was born as Kazuhiko Katō in the village of Kiritappu in Hamanaka in May 1937 but it was his colorful pen name that followed him throughout the illustrious career he began in the 1960s.
