The DC digital service, DC Universe, will not be picking up a second season of Swamp Thing, its drama series based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, according to sources. The series, which premiered on May 31, hailed from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Deadline Hollywood, reported May 10, 2019: Alvin Sargent Dies: ‘Ordinary People’ & ‘Julia’ Oscar Winner Who Also Penned Three ‘Spider-Man’ Films Was 92.
Alvin Sargent, who won Oscars for writing Ordinary People and Julia and was nominated for Paper Moon, has died of natural causes in Seattle. He was 92. Sargent also won WGA Awards for all three of those films and received the guild’s career honor, the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, in 1991.

Sargent penned more than two dozen feature screenplays from the 1960s into the 2010s, most recently The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Spider-Man 3 (2007) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). His feature credits also include What About Bob? (1991), Other People’s Money (1991) and Unfaithful (2002).

The Japanese manga artist and scholar known as Monkey Punch has died at age 81, according to Japanese press reports and confirmed by stateside friends and associates within the art and academic communities. The creator of the popular manga Lupin III was born as Kazuhiko Katō in the village of Kiritappu in Hamanaka in May 1937 but it was his colorful pen name that followed him throughout the illustrious career he began in the 1960s.

Exactly a month after the launch of its second season on Netflix, Marvel’s The Punisher has had to bite the bullet as has Jessica Jones.

The show that kicked off Marvel and Netflix’s ambitious series of interconnected superhero shows has come to an untimely end.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Daredevil—which recently launched its third season to acclaim—has joined Iron Fist and Luke Cage in being canceled by Netflix, as the streaming service begins to move on from its Marvel universe while Marvel Studios sets its sights on premium series for its parent company Disney’s upcoming service, Disney+.
I wish I could say I was surprised, but instead I'm just cynical.

John Rogers, the president of Comic-Con International who helped grow the organization to unprecedented heights, has died. He passed Saturday morning from complications caused by brain cancer, organizers of the annual event announced on their Facebook page. No age was given.

Deadline Hollywood, reported October 19, 2018: Netflix Pulls The Plug On ‘Luke Cage’, No Season 3 For Marvel’s Harlem Hero.
One week after Iron Fist was canned and the same day that the long awaited third season of Daredevil launched, Netflix has canceled Luke Cage.

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” Marvel and the streaming service said on Friday. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

This axing of Luke Cage came as a surprise.
Unlike Iron Fist, this was probably undeserved.

Just over a month after its significantly improved second season launched on Netflix, the streaming service has delivered a knockout cancellation punch to Marvel’s Iron Fist.

Not surprised, as this was probably the worst of all the Marvel series on Netflix.

The last storyline — appropriately called "The Final Quest," wrapped up earlier this year, 40 years to the day after the publication of the first issue. The Pinis aren't abandoning the elves completely — they're going to allow other creators to tell stories in their world. But they're pretty close-mouthed about what's coming next.

Artist Marie Severin died today at the age of 89. Within the comics world, she loomed large, though she was never a household name in the way that contemporaries like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were. Severin recently suffered a stroke and one of her close friends confirmed her death today. Born in New York, she got her start in the industry when her older brother, John, needed a colorist for a 1949 issue of EC Comics’ evocatively titled A Moon, a Girl … Romance.

The Verge, reported July 7, 2018: Comic artist Steve Ditko, the co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, has died.
Steve Ditko, the comic book artist who co-created Marvel’s Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, was found dead in his New York City apartment on June 29th, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 90 years old.
